SALEM – Mary Ibele, age 86, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. She was born October 22, 1930 in Cleveland, the daughter of the late Walter C. Ibele and Augusta (Mounts) Ibele.

She was a graduate of Salem High School, and Bowling Green State University. She taught school in Salem before moving to Munich, Germany where she taught English for over 30 years at the Munich-American High School. While in Germany, Mary loved to ski in the Alps. Mary was an avid fisherman; her favorite spot was Crow Bay in Ontario, Canada. She loved knitting, bowling, and playing bridge. She was an accomplished cook and loved to entertain family. She had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. Mary was a member of the First Christian Church where she participated in Bell Choir and attended the Faithful Friends Sunday School Class. She donated her time to the Ruth Smucker House in Salem and the Salem Banquet Center.

Survivors include a brother, Walter (Marlyn) Ibele of Canfield; cousins, Robert Zimmerman, Mary Jane Weaver and Deb Miller of Salem; three nephews, Clinton Ibele, Lyndon (Janyce) Ibele, and Dan (Erin) Ibele; a grand nephew, Daniel Ibele; a grand niece, Aubrey Ibele; her beloved dog, Fuji; and her cat, Peanut.

Her husband, Howard Emler, preceded her in death.
