Mary F. Lydon Guheen (1914-2018)
Our mother Mary Florence Lydon Guheen passed away peacefully at the age of 104 on Monday, November 19, 2018 at her daughter Judith’s home in Victor, Idaho. She was born in San Mateo, California on August 25, 1914 to Edward C. and Marie A. Lydon. She grew up at the Beresford Country Club (now the Peninsula Golf and Country Club) where her father was the original landscape architect and the General Manager for many years. She attended Dominican College in San Rafael and graduated from Stanford University in 1936. She married William M. Guheen of San Francisco and Idaho in 1939, son of Elise Guheen and John. J. Guheen, a former Attorney General of Idaho.. He preceded her in death in 1970. She studied economics and loved history, and she passed these interests on to the fifth-grade students she taught for many years in the Sacramento area.
