Mary Grace McKeon Malarkey, of Milford, died on Saturday, January 24, 2009. Our world lost a truly wonderful, courageous, and loving person. She will be greatly missed by all those she has touched.

Mary was born May 4, 1927 to Grace Gildea and John McKeon. She was a graduate of Hillhouse High School in New Haven. She loved the challenge of learning, attending numerous classes at Housatonic Community College, Sacred Heart University, Yale Divinity School, the United Institute, Quinnipiac University, and the Institute for Learning in Retirement Inc. at Albertus Magnus College.

Without taking music lessons, she was an exceptionally talented and accomplished musician.

She found great joy in her children, grandchildren, who called her “Precious”, and great-grandchildren who lovingly called her “GiGi.” They remember many games of Michigan Rummy, Continental, and Sorry along with hot dogs and macaroni and cheese.

Mary was married to the late John D. Malarkey. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (James) Maroney of Milford, her three sons John of Evanston, Illinois, Robert (Patricia) of Fairfield, David (Kathryn) of Cary, North Carolina, her sister Margaret McNair of Madison, her grandchildren Kate, Michael, Susanna, Marissa, Rebecca, Christine, Matthew, Caroline, James, John Patrick, and Meghean, and her 6 great-grandchildren. She also has several nieces and nephews who love their dear Aunt Mary. Her spirit will remain with us forever.

The family would like to thank Tola, Karen, and all at CT Hospice who cared for Mary and her family.
