Mary F. Williams, 76, of Elkhart, died at 3:56 p.m. Friday (Aug. 8, 2008) at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born April 2, 1932, in Clendin, W. Va., to the Rev. Leslie and Ethel (Short) Chipps. She married Edward R. Williams on Sept. 17, 1948, in Buckhannon, W.Va. He died on Nov. 17, 1998.
She is survived by three sons, Allen (Charlene) Williams of Elkhart, Jerry Williams of Elkhart, and the Rev. Michael (Sherry) Williams of Princeton, W.Va.; two daughters, Rose (Thomas) Watson and Barbara (Robert) Homewood, both of Elkhart; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Thelma Sothen of Newark, Ohio, and Louise Nottingham and Betty Anglin, both of Buckhannon.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Larry R. and David G. Williams; as well as four brothers, James, William, Harold, and Junior Chipps.
Mrs. Williams was the former owner and operator of restaurants in Oklahoma. She was a member of Mt. Nebo Church in Buckhannon, W.Va. She liked traveling and particularly enjoyed gospel music, participating in and attending shows throughout the country.
