Mary Ethel Young, 96, was called into the loving arms of the God who created her on February 7, 2018. This peaceful event was witnessed by the most important people in her life – her cherished family. She was born in the Banning Community of Carroll County on July 23, 1921 to the late William David Bass and Zelma Johnson Bass.

She was preceded in death by her husband Buford Young, a grandson, Andrew Young Dutton and her eleven siblings, James Bass, David Bass, Horace Bass, Jerry Bass, Barry Bass, Larry Bass, Ruth Dalton, Grace Calhoun, Betty Miller and Nell Beavers. Family was the most important thing in her life. She loved each and every one of them so much. She also loved to cook for her family and there was always a place at the table ready for whomever happened to be around at meal time. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church for 41 years and was the oldest living member of the church.

She is survived by her daughters Dianne Dutton and Jane and Wilson Treadwell. granddaughters Leigh (and Don) Trisler, Elizabeth Dutton Feralin, Jenny (and Glenn) Amerson. Her great-grandchildren are Adam and Alyx Burnham, Hunter (Alyssa)Kirk, Will (Georgia) Smith, Hanson and Hannah Kirk, Andrew Smith and Elijah Smith and his fiancé Shelby McNeil. Her great-great-grandchildren Braxton, Wyatt, Ava and Bobby Burnham, Kylie and Hudson Kirk, sister, Kathleen Hall, brother-in-law Bill and Mary Todd Young and sister-in-law Margaret Young.
