Mary Ellen Winger Miller was called to her eternal home with Jesus on the morning of June 11, 2021, while in her home of 60+ years in Converse, IN. She was born a twin to Jesse E. Winger and Berniece White Winger in Sweetser IN on June 15, 1930.
Mary Ellen had one other sister, Elda Mae Winger Weaver (Lawrence), and one brother, Jesse Mark Winger (Tina). Mary Ellen married Robert V. Miller (Bob) on June 1, 1952. They were faithfully married for 68 years. Mary Ellen loved the Lord Jesus, first and foremost, and sought to serve him in all her life pursuits. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother while always being present and rooting for them in their various life endeavors. Whatever it was, Mary Ellen, along with Bob, was the greatest of fans! She and Bob frequented many Pacer games and befriended faithful staff over the years. Together, they were a great team. She loved supporting her husband in their family business while enjoying all the friends made along the way. She also served as a Tupperware Manager for 30 years. Mary Ellen had a unique gift of whistling and used it for God’s glory by performing in churches, family gatherings, fairs, the American Legion, Branson, etc… She believed no place was too small or too big and no one was beyond God’s touch. She and Bob were members of Converse United Methodist Church and in recent years attended Open Door Fellowship. She also enjoyed studying God’s Word and making good friends in her Fort Wayne Bible Study Fellowship group. These were a few of her favorite things: family, family trips, extended family reunions along with family history, friendship, music, whistling, writing poetry, the simple beauty of nature, and her animals on the farm (which included a family line of cows preserved for over 60 years, horses and a dog) 🙂 These were some of her most endearing traits: Love, Faithfulness, and Passion. If you were her friend, you were a friend for life! She was one to persevere and never give up. If you were in a battle, you’d definitely want her on your side! She was a faithful prayer warrior for family, friends, and strangers.
Mary Ellen is survived by her children and several they raised as their own, in addition to a sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many beloved Winger/White and Miller/Kratzer cousins.
