SALEM – Mary Elizabeth Yeasted, age 80, of Salem, passed away peacefully at 6:15 a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Essex of Salem II. She was born December 11, 1936 in Washingtonville, the daughter to the late Herbert J. and Vivian G. (O’Dell) Jacobson.

Mary was the beloved “lunch lady” at the Prospect Elementary School for 20 years, retiring in 2002. She was a Lutheran by faith and attended the Salem High School.

For many years, she walked four miles every day with her dear friend Shirley Treadway. She taught her children to enjoy life and to eat dessert first!

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Yeasted Sr., (February 10, 2010) whom she married March 27, 1965, and her sister, Bonnie Jacobson (1998).

She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Deborah Jo (Leland “Don”) Paynter of Salem and Kathryn Ann (Brad) Mullen of Wooster; two sons, Jack H. (Mary Jane) Pike Jr. of Dana Point, California and Donald C. “Don” (Genie Wendel) Yeasted Jr. of Salem; 10 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and her first husband, Jack Pike Sr.
