Mary E. Yates, age 81 of Mansfield, Ohio passed away Friday, December 2, 2011 at Lexington Court Care Center in Lexington, OH. On August 4, 1930 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Mrs. Yates was born to Albert C. and Ethel (Debord) Watts. She had been a resident of Richland Co. most of her life and was in the food and vending business for 15 years. Mrs. Yates was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Mansfield and loved attending church and potlucks. Playing Bingo was her passion and putting her heart and soul in God and her family.
On May 24, 1947, Mrs. Yates married Berlin Yates who preceded her in death. She is survived by three daughters: Velinda Bryant, Virginia (Mark) Davis, and Velesa Cromwell all of Mansfield, OH.; three sons: Clarence Dale (Krista) Yates of Mansfield, Verlin (Sonia) Yates of Bellville, and Von Yates of Mansfield; one sister, Sue (Leroy) Hall of Mansfield; one brother, Rufus (Alice) Watts of Mansfield; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Also preceding Mrs. Yates were a daughter, Veronica M. Yates; son, Vernon Yates; her father, Albert C. Watts; step-mother, Juanita Watts; mother, Ethel Debord; two sisters: Lulu Birchfield and Joanne Jennings; one brother, Bobby Watts; and 2 great-grandchildren.
