Mary Elizabeth Barr Shields, 82, formerly of 9332 Old Richmond Road, Keeling, VA died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the residence of her son, 906 Luna Lake Road, Danville. Born April 25, 1927 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Mary Lou Crawley Barr and the late George Horace Barr. She was formerly employed with Security Bank Trust Co. Mrs. Shields was a charter member of West Main Baptist Church and later attended Kentuck Presbyterian Church. She was married to the late Jack Forrest Shields. She is survived by a son, Steven Forrest Shields and wife, Elizabeth of Danville; a brother, Clyde Daniel Barr of Tampa, FL, two grandchildren, Monique Fernandez and Joseph Lee Loftis and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Shields was predeceased by a brother, George Horace Barr, Jr.
