Mary Elise Lewis Clayton of Danville passed in her home on Tuesday, July 10, 2012. Born on August 14, 1929, she was the daughter of the late James Edward Lewis and Gracie Jones Lewis. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward E. Clayton. Elise was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. Her door was always open to all those she held dear to her heart. Elise was of the Christian Faith and a homemaker. She has two surviving children: daughter, Judy C. Willis and her husband, Randy, of Wilson, North Carolina and son, Edward Clayton, Jr. of Danville. Surviving grandchildren include: Edward Clayton, III and wife, Katina, of Ruffin, North Carolina; Joshua Clayton of Danville; Clay Willis of Atlanta, Georgia; and Stefanie C. Anderson and husband, Chad of Chatham, two great-grandchildren: Cody Clayton and Lillian Anderson. Other surviving family members include: sisters; Mae Ellison of Eden, NC; Linda Corn and Patricia Dallas of Blairs VA; brothers; Jerry Lewis of Dry Fork, VA and Ronnie Lewis of Crystal Lake, IL. She was predeceased by sisters: Frances Johnson and Eloise Rogers, one brother, Gene Lewis, one grand-daughter Brittany Willis.
