Mary Ellen Strawn, 96, of Galesburg, died at 10:15 PM, Saturday, July 27, 2019, at Marigold Nursing and Rehab. Mary was born August 16, 1922, near Dahinda, the daughter of Leonard J. Folger and Mary Elizabeth West Folger. She married Kenneth Strawn September 13, 1944 in Springfield, Illinois.
Mary is survived by one daughter, Vicki L. Mehaffey. Two children preceded her in death, a daughter Sue E. Strawn Davis and son Gregory L. Strawn. She is also survived by a son-in-law, Richard L. Davis, two grandchildren, Franz D. Davis and Seth A. Davis and four great grandchildren. Mary graduated from Williamsfield High School, worked for the Galesburg Research Hospital and earned her Registered Nurse degree from Carl Sandburg Junior College.
Mary volunteered at the Galesburg Rescue Mission and volunteered for missionary trips in Central America. She always took time for her grandchildren and attended many of their school activities.
