Mary E. Waltman O’Hara, 93, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017. She was born in Drumwright, Oklahoma to Rev. John Logan and Olivia Edith Waltman on February 10, 1924. She and the family moved to the Turlock, California area when she was a teenager.

She married Lloyd Rosebrough and they had two sons, Russell and Gary. During World War II she inspected 500 lb cluster bombs at the bomb factory in Turlock. In January of 1950, she and her two small boys moved to Flagstaff, where she worked for a time at the Whiting Brothers gas station. She later worked at the Navajo Ordnance Depot as the bus driver and mail clerk. She married Jack O’Hara in 1952 in Flagstaff and they added two daughters to the family, Kathy and Laura.

The family lived for 7 years at Corey’s Corner at Ft Valley and Snow Bowl Roads when Ft Valley had only a small handful of families and was primarily cow and horse pastures. In 1959 Jack built a house in town, which remained her home for the rest of her life. She worked for many winters at the Arizona Snow Bowl when it was owned by Al Graesmon. Through the years she was first and foremost a homemaker and mother and grandmother. She was an excellent seamstress, making most of the clothing the family wore, as well as new clothes for the many foster children that lived with the family over the years.

Mary was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 55 years and was a Past Grand Matron of the state of Arizona. She worked for many years with the Order of the Rainbow for Girls throughout the state and the DeMolay Chapter here in Flagstaff. Many, many young people thought of her as a “mom”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister, her husband, Jack; her son, Russell Rosebrough; and her grandson, Eric Lindstrom. She is survived by her son, Gary Rosebrough (Julie); daughters Kathy Lindstrom and Laura O’Hara (Louis Weinstein); a son-in-law, Ric Lindstrom; grandsons Cliff Murphey (Carol), Bob Rosebrough, Jack (Erika), and Tobias Weinstein and granddaughter-in-law Tara Lindstrom; great-grandchildren, Ryan Murphey, Rakia and Gage Rosebrough and Riley, and Olivia Lindstrom; and one great-great-grandson Loki Rosebrough.
