Mary E. McCarty, 95, of Washington passed away at 1:01pm, Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
She was born on April 2, 1921 in Peoria the daughter of Harry and Stella Truitt Knickerbocker. She married Robert G. McCarty on October 11, 1941 in Peoria. He passed away on July 5, 1975 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her best friend and sister Helen “Marie” Blackburn along with sisters Anna, Maggie and Lucille; four brothers Harry, Everett, Johnny and Jimmy.
Surviving are two sons Paul McCarty of Washington and Jimmy (Jean) McCarty of East Peoria, IL; one daughter Karen (Terry) King of Chillicothe, IL. Further surviving are 10 grandchildren; Lori, Robert, Jennifer, Jimmy, Mary Sue, Bryan, Jeremy, Brandon, Chad and David. Further surviving are 15 great grandchildren and also great-great grandchildren.
She worked for Foster & Gallagher for over 20 years last working as a photographer.
