NEW HARTFORD/WINSTED –GILLIGAN – Mary D. Gilligan, 83, of Cook Street, Winsted passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2007. She was the loving wife of the late John Gilligan. Born October 14, 1923 in Branchdale, PA; the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Orie) Sabo. Throughout her life, Mary was a hard worker, both in providing for her family in the workplace and in keeping her beloved home spotless. She was an excellent cook, regularly preparing large Sunday dinners for her children and grandchildren. She had a garden every summer until recent years and she loved to fish, especially at nearby Highland Lake. One of Mary’s favorite places was Old Orchard Beach in Maine. She and her siblings took their families to vacation there each summer during the 1960s and 1970s, and she returned for a few visits more recently with her children and grandchildren. We’ll remember Mary in OOB at her happiest and most peaceful: taking a long walk in the early morning along the water’s edge, searching for sand dollars. She is survived by a son, Daniel Gilligan of Windsor; two daughters, Carol Reudgen of Norfolk and Jackie Gilligan Ramsey of West Hartford; 8 grandchildren, Colleen Goldstein, Tim Tallon, Michael Tallon, Brion Tallon, Ryan Gilligan Ramsey, Daniel Gilligan Ramsey, Amy Gilligan and Lauren Gilligan; 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Stephen Sabo, Andrew Sabo and James Sabo; and three sisters, Susan Yadach, Ann Fay and Elizabeth Schibi.
