Mary Catherine (Talley) Edwards, 73, passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center after a short battle with cancer. Mary was born on November 7, 1940 to Gaylord and Bessie (Hoffman) Talley in Des Moines, Iowa. Mary graduated from North High School in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1959. She worked at Principal Financial Group in Des Moines from 1959 to her retirement in 1997. Mary loved her family most of all and but also loved playing cards and going “to the boat” for crab legs and gambling. Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Gary; her daughter & son-in-law, Shari & Jay French; two grand-daughters, Jessica (Brian) Jackson, Loves Park, IL and Angela French, Des Moines, IA; her 3 greatest joys in life, her great-grandchildren, Cody, Lucas, & Katie Jackson, Loves Park, IL; her brother, Richard Talley, Altoona, IA; her sister, Beverly (Talley) Poore, Vacaville, CA; and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert & Eddie, and sisters, Lavonne, Cleo, & Shirley.
