Mary C. Detwiler, age 89, of Salem died at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center Emergency Room. She was born February 20, 1923 in Salem the daughter of the late David J. and Catherine (Miller) McCloskey. Mary worked for 11years for the former Daniel E. Smith’s Jeweler in Salem and retired in 1988. Previously she worked for 15 years for the former Perskeys store in Salem. She was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church, L.C.B.A., and C. D. of A. Mary was a 1940 graduate of Salem High School and a volunteer for AID. Her husband, Homer R. Detwiler, whom she married June 15, 1946, preceded her in death on September 19, 1967. Survivors include two daughters, Gayle (Richard) Juliano of Canfield and Janet (Lee) Lucas of East Liverpool; a son John R. “Jack” (Wendy) Detwiler of Columbus; 5 grandchildren, Evan & Halle Detwiler, Chuck Juliano, Carrie Parente and Stephen Lucas and 4 great-grandchildren, Josh and Richie Juliano and Amanda and Brandon Parente. Three brothers, Edward, Charles and George McCloskey also preceded her in death.
