Mary Vicie Brooks, age 88, of Huntsville, Alabama, went to be with her Lord on March 16, 2011. Vicie was born in Danville, Virginia on July 25, 1922.
For over forty years, she and her husband, Herbert, owned and operated Hub’s Grub Grocery on Ninth Avenue, while keeping her family the priority in her life. She was a smart business woman and creative homemaker. Vicie’s warmth, laughter, generosity, quick wit, and kindness will be remembered and missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Deemer and Ticie Jones; two brothers, Clayton and J.E.; two sisters, Elsie and Ruby; her husband, Herbert; and her son, Wayne.
Survivors include her son Randy; grandchildren Ashley Brooks, Patrick Brooks, Lon Brooks (Cathy), Tracey Touchton (Jim), Kristin Lewis (Stan), and Lee Eiland; eight great grandchildren; and daughters-in-law Sue Eiland and Diane Brooks.
The family wishes to thank Mrs. Carolyn McKannan and Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Mason for their special kindnesses shown during Vicie’s lengthy illness.
