Mary Arminta-Powers Bloomquist, age 98, of Walker, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the May Creek Senior Living Campus in Walker. She was born March 23, 1919 in Olin, IA the daughter of Hal and Grace (Blaney) Gilmore.
Mary grew up in Anamosa, IA and was the supervisor for the North Central Compensation Rating Bureau in Des Moines from 1964 until her move to Walker with her husband in 1978. She was a very kind, loving person who would help anyone who was in her life. If Mary liked you as a person, she loved you. She loved wearing her pearls, going out to lunch, shopping at the mall, fishing and being in a boat out on the lake. One of Mary’s favorite things to do was to hold hands and she did this often with her family. She will be missed by all her family and friends.
The family that Mary joins again are her parents; Hal and Grace, her High School sweetheart/husband; Robert D. Powers, sisters; Virginia and Eileen.
Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are daughters; Peggy Loomis of Walker and Paula Colegrove of Dryden, Onterio, Canada, seven grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
