Mary Anne Merrill It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sister, Aunt, Great Aunt and Friend Mary Anne Merrill. She was 65 years young and passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.Mary Anne fought a courageous battle against MDS the last few years and most recently against Leukemia. Despite the many health challenges, Mary Anne was a trooper, she was always upbeat, dignified and selfless to her last minutes when she was heard joking with the Critical Care Nurses. Mary Anne was born December 20, 1951 in Owosso, the daughter of Robert and Betty (Kentfield) Merrill. She graduated from Owosso High School in 1970, attended Lansing Business University and was a lifelong resident of Owosso, MIMary enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, shopping and quality time with her many, friends. She was an avid Michigan State Sports Fan (Go Green!) and enjoyed her career at Michigan State University for 42 years. Starting in the School of Labor Industrial Relations (LIR), she also worked in the School of Packaging and finished her incredible career at MSU in School of Planning, Design & Construction. Mary is survived by her sister Sharon (Mark) Newsham; brother Robert J. (Elizabeth) Merrill; her boyfriend of 32 years Paul Singh; nieces and nephews Kelli Corner, Brandi Hegyi, Robert J. Merrill 3rd (Amanda), Yvonne Merrill and Charles Merrill and 4 great nieces and nephews Beth Anne, Cameron, Jakob and Zakary.She was predeceased by her parents Robert (Bob) and Betty Merrill.Memorial contributions are suggested to the Memorial Healthcare Cancer Center where Mary Anne met many wonderful people and spent countless hours visiting with the friendly and attentive staff.A Celebration of Life will be held from 2pm to 6pm Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Nelson-House Funeral Home in Owosso.
