Mary (Firgeleski) Wlodarczyk, age 98, of Salem, widow of the late Andrew Wlodarczyk, passed away peacefully Friday morning (Dec. 30, 2016) at home, surrounded by loved ones.
Born and raised in East Lyme, Mary was born on May 16, 1918, the daughter of the late Konstanty and Victoria (Zabawa) Firgeleski.
On Jan. 6, 1940, she and Andrew were married in New London. Together, they shared 58 years of marriage before he predeceased her on June 26, 1998.
Mary is survived by her three children, Anna Hawthorne and her husband, William of Hadlyme, Alfred Wlodarczyk and his wife, Lori of Salem and Edward Wlodarczyk and his companion, Terry Dupuis of Salem. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Linda, William and his wife, Patty Jo, Michael and his wife, Rachel, Pamela and her husband, Alan, Richard, Steven and his companion, Aimee and Heidi and her husband, Dave; 11 great grandchildren, Kevin, Alyssa, Andrew, Zofia, Violet, Max, Olivia, Callum, Madison, McKenna and Lincoln; a brother, Steven Firgeleski of East Lyme; and many other extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by twin infant sons, John and Robert Wlodarczyk; and three brothers, Joseph, Theodore and John Firgeleski.
Mary lovingly crocheted many beautiful afghans and projects that are cherished by her family and friends to this day and for many to come.
She will be greatly missed and remembered fondly.
