Mary A. “Ann” McMaster, 94, of Galesburg, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018, 4:30 AM, at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.

Ann was born on December 10, 1923, in Assumption, Illinois. She was the daughter of Wendell and Evelyn (Hill) Hoover. Ann met James H. McMaster and they became engaged during his military service in World War II, where he became a POW in Germany. They married on June 2, 1945 in Burlington, Iowa and celebrated 50 years of marriage before his passing on November 2, 1995.

Ann is survived by three daughters, Sue (Tom) Ervin of LeClaire, IA, Betsy (Larry) Kisler of Abingdon, and Jeanie (Jerry) Edney of Olathe, KS; a brother, J.D. “John” Hoover of Galesburg; sister-in-law, Stella Trench of South Bend, IN; 9 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Ann was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Jean Aschoff; and granddaughter, K.C. Griesenbeck.

Ann was a 1941 graduate of Monmouth High School. She worked in the office of Admiral Manufacturing which later became Whirlpool, where she retired in 1983. Ann loved dining out with family and friends. She was a member of TOPS Club, where she held the office of treasurer. She was of Catholic faith and attended Corpus Christi and Immaculate Heart of Mary Churches here in Galesburg. She enjoyed quilting, bowling, dancing, crossword puzzles, dominos, bingo and most of all, she enjoyed her family.
