Mary Ann “Marianne” Yapp, age 93 of Kalamazoo, died on May 21, 2021. She was born on March 26, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Arnold) Vosler. She attended Detroit Bible College and Westmont College. On August 2, 1957 she married James Yapp. Together they celebrated almost 50 years of marriage before Jim’s passing. Marianne was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who led the family in prayer and faith.
She was the administrative assistant at Ward Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Northville until her retirement. She spent 10 wonderful years at Friendship Village in Kalamazoo before living her final year at her daughter’s home. Marianne’s family includes her daughter Kay (Dennis) Simpson; her grandchildren: Steven Fischhoff and Julie (Emery) Polasek; her great-grandchildren Brady, Vivienne, Annalise, and Norah.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Yapp on November 19, 2006 and her son Kevin Yapp on February 9, 2015. A private graveside service will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Donations in memory of Marianne may be made to Ward Evangelical Presbyterian Church Mission Fund.
