Mary Ann Kimmel, age 84, of Rome, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2020.
She was born May 8, 1936, in Utica, the daughter of the late Paul and Helen Rado Barone, and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1954. Mary Ann married Edwin T. Gwyther on April 28, 1956; he died January 21, 1991. She later married Robert Kimmel on July 15, 1995; he died October 11, 2018. She retired from Rome Hospital in 1995, after 17 plus years of service. She was a member of St. Mary’s/St Peter’s Parish.
Mary Ann enjoyed cooking and baking for her lovely family, sewing and reading. Her faith in God, carried her through many hard times during the course of her life.
Mary Ann is survived by her loving family, a daughter and son in law, Helen and Raymond Puma of Rome; two sons and a daughter in law, Paul and Gloria Gwyther of Fairfax, VA, and Thomas Gwyther of Rome; step-children, Wendy Tyler, Kim and Jeff Rasak, and Kyle and Lisa Kimmel; step daughter in law, Sonia Kimmel; a brother, Albert Barone of Rome; cherished grandchildren, Pamela and Tim Tiernan, Sara and Jay Rowe, Barbara Puma and her fiancé, Todd Mellor, and Samantha Gwyther; great grandchildren, Landon and Autumn Tiernan, Grayson and Everly Rowe and Logan Darling; step grandchildren, Eric Tyler, Nicole Stack, Alexandra Kimmel, Fiona and Madison Rasak, Robert Neff, Amanda and Bella Kimmel; an amazing cousin, Mary Grace Petronella; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear and loving friends that made a difference in her life—Mary Ann loved them all. She was predeceased by a son Edwin Gwyther, stepson, Robert Kimmel, and a brother, Salvatore Barone.
