Mary Ann Gladden, 70, of Port St. Lucie, FL passed away on October 1, 2021.

Mary Ann was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio to Mildred and the late Robert Earl Gladden. She was a graduate of St. Clairsville High School, Class of 1969. Mary Ann attended Baldwin Wallace College where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She then went on to post-graduate studies at Ohio State University and earned her master’s degree and Ph.D. in educational psychology.

Mary Ann was a tenured faculty member at Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska, and an Associate Professor at Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky. After numerous years as a professor, Mary Ann redirected her career path and became a registered nurse, earning her degree from Eastern Kentucky University. She practiced for 20 years as a psychiatric nurse at the University of Kentucky Eastern State Hospital.

After retirement, Mary Ann moved to Florida. She was a voracious reader and a skilled mahjong player. She had a true love of animals and rescued and adopted many pets over the years.

Mary Ann was the beloved daughter of Mildred Gladden and the late Robert Earl Gladden, loving sister of Erla Mowbray (John M), and Marcia Lucas (Kevin); cherished aunt of Bethany Cooley, Dr. John Mowbray, Adam Mowbray, Jason Lucas, and David Mowbray; great aunt to 13 nieces and nephews; and devoted mom to her fur baby Ozzie.
