Mrs. Mary Ann Gibson also known as “Sally” or “Sa” to her family, was born on April 7, 1949, in Henderson, Tennessee.  She was the   daughter of the late Kara Wesley McCorkle, Sr. and Jimmie Van Dee McCorkle.

Mary  was united in marriage to Charles Gibson, Jr. on January 27, 1970.  There were ten children born to their union, which spanned the years.

Mary received her education in the Indianapolis Public School System,  and went back to receive her diploma in 1996.

Mary  was a quiet, private person who loved her family dearly and remembered everyone’s birthday. She was known for her coconut pineapple cakes, cornbread dressing, and her hot water cornbread.

Mary  departed this life on Friday, November 27, 2020.  Mary  was preceded in death by her father, Kara Wesley McCorkle, Sr.; mother, Jimmie Van Dee McCorkle; her husband, Charles Gibson, Jr.; her son, Gerald Gibson; her brother, Lawson McCorkle, and her sister, Ida Mae McCorkle.

She leaves to cherish in her memory four daughters, Sharon Gibson, Carolyn (Rodney) Stanback, Felicia (Kenneth) Grant, and LaTonya Gibson; five sons, Kevin Gibson, Damen Gibson, Charles Gibson, Ill, Marcus Gibson, and Derrick Gibson; one sister, Helen McCorkle; three brothers, Kara (Daisy) McCorkle, Jr., Dandy (Cheryl) McCorkle, Randy McCorkle; nineteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and a hosts of nieces and nephews, many cousins, and other loving relatives.
