Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt, Mary Alice (Gunter) Kay passed away December 13, 2021, from Dementia. She was born June 13, 1952, at Hill Airforce Base, Utah. She was the second to the oldest child of John Bruce Gunter and Carma Jean Gunter. Her siblings were Craig Malmberg, and John Russell Gunter. She spent her early years in Ogden UT as well as traveling with her family. The family then moved to Davis County UT. She graduated Ogden High in 1971. She met her future husband Harold V Kay while attending High School at Ogden High. They were married December 23,1971. Later they were sealed for all time and eternity in the Salt Lake City LDS temple.

Together they raised 4 children. Jannette L Kay (Stoddard), Debbie J Kay (Staker), Kimberly A Kay (Groeger), and Harold Vincent Kay. During their married life they lived in Davis County, Ogden UT, Heidelberg Germany, and Ft Huachuca Arizona. She spent her remaining years in West Point, UT.

Mary worked as a full time stay at home mom and military wife for several years, caring for her children and husband, Wendy’s, Mary Kays Cosmetics, Interior Decorating and Design, and IRS where she retired in November of 2009.  Mary was best known for her beautiful laughter, her smile, her amazing Zucchini bread, cookies, homemade noodles and soups, sewing, and her home interior ideas. Mary had an amazing voice and loved to sing, she taught her kids the love of music no matter what generation of music it was and the joy of using her voice. She loved most the 50’s,60’s,70’s, and 80’s, hippy, blues, and all country music, thanks to her kids she enjoyed newer music and some rock music as well.

Her favorite time of year was Christmas. She loved decorating and shopping for her kids, and grandkids, as well as family and friends. She had a big heart, she was thankful for her blessing in her life, and cared for everyone.

Mary was driven and active even when she suffered in pain due to some medical and health problems, she continued to try and clean, and organize and felt like there was something she had to get done even in her last days. She was the backbone of the family and tied us together every time we started to get to busy in life.
