GIBSON, Marvin “Jack” Loving husband, father, grandfather and coach, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015. Jack was born in Battle Creek on October 20, 1941 to the late Lloyd and Vivian (Smoke) Gibson. He was a lifelong Climax resident and a member of the Prairie Baptist Church.

Jack retired from General Motors and was a partner in M & W Contracting for the past 15 years. For over forty years, he coached the youth of his community and gave himself totally to the players and the programs.

Jack wasn’t in it for the glory, but for the benefit of others. He was a member of the Climax-Scotts Sports Hall of Fame. He loved sports, competing for many years in high school athletics, softball, golf and bowling leagues. Jack was a gentleman with a warm smile who wasn’t afraid to do the little things to influence those entrusted to him. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 38 years, Christine; his children, Kim (Brent) Ardrey of East Leroy, Kristi (Joe) Cook of Climax, Kevin (Rhonda) Gibson of Sellersburg, IN, Donald (Rosel) Ruthven of Climax, Dustin (Lisa) Ruthven of Portage, Krista (Randy) Packer of Climax, and Derek (Elizabeth) Gibson of Climax; 24 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is his sister, Sharon (Luke) Lake of Bellevue; and sisters-in-law, Nellie Mumma of Lapeer and Zara Hastings of Flint.

Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Gibson. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Climax Chapel.
