Marvin Boyce went to meet his Lord and Savior on Monday October 24, 2022. Born on June 25, 1923, in Keyser, WV to the late Arthur Dory Boyce and Minnie Lee (Harris) Boyce, he was one of eight children.

His mother Minnie hid his draft notice to avoid ruining his high school graduation, but he did go on to proudly serve our country in the Pacific with one of his brothers. Two other brothers were serving in Europe and fortunately, they all came home safe. Marvin served in a special unit during World War II, the 503rd Battalion. This unit fought on four beachheads and for his service he was awarded the Bronze Star and four battle stars.

When he returned home from war, Marvin felt the call of God to become a minister. He studied at Southeastern Bible College and South Florida University, receiving degrees with honors. He then became an Assemblies of God Minister. Over the years he assisted and led other ministries as well. He was a Sectional Youth Leader, a Presbyter and Sunday School Director for the Potomac District of the Assemblies of God. Later he served on the Board of Directors for the original Teen Challenge Ministries in Brooklyn, NY. Marvin finally retired from full-time ministry at the age of 75 in 1998.

Marvin was predeceased by his first wife Ellen Louise (Black) in 1972. Then earlier this year his second wife, Sharon Mae (Olson), predeceased him as well. Marvin was the last of his siblings, outliving his brothers Arnold, Paul and Lourn as well as his sisters, Helen and Velma. A brother, Forest and sister, Violet, died while young. All now are united in heaven.

Marvin is survived by his son, Don, his wife Elizabeth and their daughters Autumn, Eva Marie and Virginia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews including Lourn Jr., Marvin, Sharon, Royce, Mark, Janice, Karen, and their spouses, grand nieces, nephews, and their children as well. Also, his in-laws Ray Olson, Ryan Olson and Joyce Famighetti, their spouses, children and grandchildren.

As a Pentecostal minister for 50 years, he would say his greatest accomplishment was leading so many to the Lord. During his 99 years he served as a role model for many lives.

One of the last of the Greatest Generation, we can only hope to live up to his example.
