Marvel Ann Thomason was born in Merkel, TX on January 14, 1939. She made her home in Hobbs, NM.  On August 5, 2020 in Lubbock, TX., God called Marvel home to be with her Lord and Savior.

She married Melvin “Buzz” Thomason on August 20, 1955 and at times they endured but mostly enjoyed 60 years together.  They had 3 children, Keith, Lydia, and Randa.

Some of Marvel’s favorite people called her Mamaw. She had 8 grandchildren Chad & Jena Easter, Seth Bartlett, AudreyAnn & Derek Shephard, Jim Wyche, Zach & Melissa Bartlett. Then she added to that joy with 5 great grandchildren, Jayven Easter, Deacon Shephard, Blakely Shephard, Madalyn Bartlett, and Daxton Shephard.

Not only did Marvel center her career choices around serving others she also served through her church.  She taught Sunday School, worked with youth groups, and the bus ministries. Marvel fueled her creative side by designing and implementing many bulletin boards for the church.  All of this was done because of her deep faith and Love for God.  She participated in a lot of church activities until health wouldn’t allow it.  She kept up with her church through church family and her daughter & son-in-law, Randa & Tim Bartlett.  She was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

Marvel was preceded in death by her beloved husband Buzz (who was called home exactly 5 years earlier on August 5, 2015), her precious son, Keith Thomason, her parents, Elton & Marie Dowell, her treasured little brother, Audis Dowell, and in-laws, Cliff & Lucille Thomason, Mildred Weaver, Gene Thomason, Melba Yates, and Bobby Thomason.

Left to Cherish her memories are her 2 daughters and their husbands, Lydia and Craig Easter, Randa and Tim Bartlett, daughter-in-law, Joanna Thomason, all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister, Eckie Stroud, brother and sister-in-law, Johnny & Pat Dowell, sisters-in-law, Willene Collins, & Debbie Thomason,  many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Marvel loved her life here. Her family and friends will greatly miss her, but she taught them to have the faith that allows them to know she is with Jesus to live forever.

Lydia and Randa rejoice that their Mom is no longer suffering.
