Martin “Marty” D. Burke, 84, of Woodson, IL, died Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville.
He was born July 20, 1936, in Scott County, the son of James J. and Vivian J. Craddock Burke. He married Patsy Wood on July 20, 1968, at Church of Our Saviour in Jacksonville, and she survives.
He is also survived by two children, James R. (Laura) Burke and Amy (Jeff) Quigg all of Murrayville; seven grandchildren, Cole Burke, Kalleigh Burke, Vivian Peters, Charlie Peters, Sophie Quigg, Zoe Quigg, and Austin Quigg; and one brother, James P. (Sylvia) Burke of Franklin.
Mr. Burke was a 1954 graduate of Routt High School. He was an Engineering Technician for General Telephone for many years. After his retirement, he worked as a consultant for Morgan County Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA). Marty was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was also a member of Murrayville/Woodson EAS for several years, as well as a member of AMVETS, and a life member of Knights of Columbus. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and especially enjoyed his family and grand-kids.
