Martha Jane Syvertson-Mashaw, 52, of Hainesport, NJ, passed away surrounded by the love of her family and friends on Thursday, January 7, 2016.

Martha was an intelligent, compassionate, feisty, sarcastic, witty, and beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and daughter. Martha graduated with her Associate’s degree in nursing in 2009 and quickly climbed the nursing career ladder, being promoted to supervisor during her first 6 months and Director of Nursing within a couple of years. Her amazing (and sometimes crazy) sense of humor, coupled with her ability to laugh in any situation, will live on with her friends and family. Martha will always be remembered as being blunt, humorous, motivated, giving, and, of course, incredibly accepting and open-minded. Born in 1963 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of surviving Lavinia Syvertson and her late father Robert Syvertson.

She is survived by her husband Sidney J. Mashaw, and three daughters, Danielle Dela George (wife, Jennifer Dela George), Marissa Mazzone (husband, Joseph Mazzone), and Maddie Mashaw. She has two grandchildren, Parker and Gianna Mazzone, her cat, Kabuki, and her granddog, Biscuit Dela George. Martha also leaves behind her brother, Robert Syvertson, Jr., and sister, Elizabeth Syvertson-Davis. Martha firmly believed she had many past lives, describing in detail her time on the prairie. We hold on to these stories and hope she has found a new life where she can at least feast on something other than baked beans.
