Martha Sue Freeman Dyar, of the Greshamville Community died Saturday, December 8, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, GA. She was 96.  Born May 10, 1922 in Greshamville, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Bingham Freeman and Glennie Smith Freeman. She graduated from Greensboro High School in 1939 and North Georgia College. On July 22, 1945, she married Jonathan Pressly Dyar, III and they were married for sixty-three years. When she was younger she taught school in Siloam and later became the Tax Commissioner for Greene County serving unopposed for twenty-six years and retired after thirty-two years.

She is survived by three daughters, Susan Dyar of Greensboro, GA, Pattie Dyar Gilbert and husband Dwayne of Watkinsville, GA and Margaret Dyar Patrick and husband Mike of the Greshamville Community; a son, Jonathan Pressly “Jon” Dyar IV and wife Teresa of the Greshamville Community; eight grandchildren, Donna Gilbert Gakstatter and husband Eric, Geri Gilbert Walker and husband James, Kelly Gilbert Manders and husband Brandon, Pres Dyar, Andy Dyar and wife Montana, Clint Patrick and wife Katie, Cody Patrick and wife Joanie and Rachel Patrick Kinsaul and husband Jason; sixteen great grandchildren, Reagan Gakstatter, Bailey Gakstatter, Emma Manders, Lila Manders, Ashton Walker, Sophie Walker, Jeremy Dyar, Malachi Dyar, Kaylee Dyar, Jonathan Dyar, Brady Patrick,  Darcie Kate Patrick, Faith Patrick, Cameron Patrick, Mallory Patrick and JP Kinsaul; and a number of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. P. Dyar; sister, Rachel Freeman; and great grandchild, J D Manders..
