MARTHA ANNE NOLAN, age 78, of Nokesville, VA departed this world on Tuesday, May 14, 2002 as she was surrounded by her loved ones in the comfort of her home. Mrs. Nolan was born May 13, 1924 in Welch, WVA the daughter of the late Gilbert Frazier Worley and Bessie Belle DeHart Worley. Martha was a devoted wife and mother whose loving presence filled her home as well as the hearts of her family. She left a legacy to her children for a love of gardening, animals, traveling and cooking, but most of all an ability to love and care for others. Her compassion was known throughout the local community as she gave and served selflessly in many ways. Martha was the pianist for her church for several years, formerly served on the Board of Directors for the Prince William County Red Cross, worked tirelessly as a volunteer with the White House Correspondence Team, supported the Republican Party in many capacities and in countless other ways actively influenced her community. Marthas many years overseas, in Newfoundland, Japan, Ethiopia and Pakistan and her love for people led to lifelong friendships around the world. Her selfless participation in community support activities advanced a favorable image of the United States of America among the many citizens of foreign lands with whom she came in contact. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Col. Robert Andrew Nolan, USAF (Ret.), three daughters, Nancy Anne Goulart, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Mary Josephine Rust, of Burlington, Washington and Sandra Lee Stansberry, of Houston, Texas, two brothers, Gilbert Ray Worley, of Dunn Loring, VA and Frazier Clayborne Worley, of Reston, VA, one sister, Brownie Louise Plaugher, of Dunn Loring, VA and 9 grandchildren.
