Martha “Marty” Sutton was born on June 17, 1932 in Evening Shade, Arkansas and died on November 4, 2014 in Canon City, Colorado at the age of 82. Her parents were Lillie and Mentral Qualls. She and her husband, the late Ernie Sutton, were married on October 13, 1962. Ernie died January 22, 2012. Marty had a son Leland and Ernie had four children, Gary, David, Donald and Susan. In 1985, after both retiring, Marty and Ernie moved to Green Valley, Arizona. They loved to travel and took many trips across the country to see friends and family. In October 2003 they relocated back to Colorado. Marty and Ernie loved to fish and they would often go up Weston Pass, just outside of Fairplay, Colorado and try their luck in the little stream up there. In 1992 they lost their son David (age 42). Marty was also preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters – Verna Lawrence, Irene Farina, Glenda Lemley, Billy Joe Qualls, and Mentral (Bob) Qualls. Marty is survived by her three sons, Leland, Gary and Don; her daughter Susan; Leland’s wife, Coralee and their daughters, Laura and Carrie; her great grandsons, Nick and Evan (Laura); great granddaughter, Mikayla (Carrie); Gary’s partner Alex; Don’s sons, Jeff and Kyle, and daughters, Christina and Llana; her great grandsons, Kaleb, Kody and Kai (Jeff); great granddaughters, Kyleigh and Kenzie (Christina); and Susan’s husband, Mike and their son, Adam and daughter, Amber.
