Martha ""Liz"" Bowerman

 United States

  • Date Of Death: September 22, 2016
  • State: New Mexico

Martha “Liz” Bowerman, 88, a resident of Albuquerque for over 55 years, passed away at home surrounded by her family, on Thursday, September 22, 2016. Martha grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. Her father called her “Lizzie”, a German term of endearment, giving her the nickname Liz. She’s been known as such ever since. Liz moved to Albuquerque in her early thirties and worked as a paralegal. Here is where she met her husband Lou, to whom she was married for 53 years. She was an avid reader, filling her days and home, with more books than imaginable. She was a kind and selfless person, who gladly took on the care of family, neighbors, and friends. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for over 30 years, doing so until January of this year. She could sew the heck out of anything, including ballet slippers, and her husbands worn out pockets and socks. She was the very best at spoiling her daughters and grandchildren. She loved her many many dogs, and spoiled them too- all of which were named with a “B” (except the very first one). She had a smile that lit up the room, until her very last days. Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Frieda Maier, and her “rockstar” husband Lt. Col. Louis A. Bowerman. She is survived by her daughters Caryl Bowerman Parks and Kathy Meimetis, her sons-in-law Jeff Parks and Mike Meimetis, her grandchildren Steffan, Tjaden, Micah, Josh, Lawrence, and Alyssa, and her niece Lori Stampley.
