Martha Camille Koger Hampton Feb 1, 1944-May 17, 2020 Martha Camille Koger Hampton, aged 76, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 17, 2020, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was born on February 1, 1944, in Florence, AL, to the late Benjamin Taylor Koger and Ruth Camille Holt Koger. Martha loved education and obtained multiple degrees, culminating in her Ph.D. in Education from Capella University. She was a highly respected, lifelong educator and loved being both a teacher and school administrator. She began her career as a high school English teacher in Atlanta after graduating with her Bachelor’s Degree from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. After many years of teaching, she became an administrator, serving as Assistant Principal of both elementary and high schools in Marietta and Rome before finally retiring as an award-winning “Principal of the Year” at Gardner Newman Middle School in LaGrange. Post-retirement, Martha’s passion for education took her back to classrooms as a professor/advisor to doctoral students at Walden University, adjunct professor at both LaGrange College and Point University, and private tutor to employees’ children when a Kia Plant opened in LaGrange. Martha was a fierce, feisty, and funny Southern woman – a cross between Scarlett O’Hara and Julia Sugarbaker. She had a knack for fashion, decorating, and entertaining and loved to make every occasion a special event. She was a very dedicated and intentional friend to many: from local gatherings such as her Birthday Lunch Club, Bridge, Mahjong, Altar Guild, and Junior League to annual beach trips and reunions with friends she had made and kept throughout her life to planning and hosting parties and special events full of friends and family. She never wanted to leave anyone out; and from the many friends who reached out in her last days, it was evident that she never did. Most of all, Martha loved her family. Martha was married to Coy Neil Richardson until his death in 2012. She reunited with her first husband, Frank Gary Hampton, to whom she was remarried from 2014 until her death. In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter Camille Holt Hampton Rogers and her husband Jeff Rogers; daughter Amelia Koger Richardson Davis and her husband Jeff Davis; stepson Mark Lee Richardson and his wife Annie Slack; stepson Mark Spencer Hampton; stepson Andrew (Drew) Barrett Hampton; stepson Alan (Mac) Lyons Hampton; and brother John Wayne Koger, Sr. and his wife Rosemary Koger. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Ruth Rogers, Rachel Rogers, Georgia Davis, Bentley Davis, Eneless Davis, Watson Davis, Jonas Davis, Aubrey Richardson, and Rupert Richardson.
