Martha Jane Hedges, 90, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at 7:30 a.m. at her home. Mrs. Hedges was born October 13, 1922 in Huntington, Indiana to Ozro and Bertha McBride Day. Her parents preceded her in death. Mrs. Hedges married Emery Donald Hedges on September 19, 1955 in Huntington, IN. He preceded her in death on October 28, 2002 .
Mrs. Hedges was a 1940 graduate of W. Rock Creek in Huntington and a 1948 graduate of St. Joe in Fort Wayne. Mrs. Hedges was a retired Registered Nurse. Mrs. Hedges also was part owner of Hedges Business Machine in Huntington, IN. Martha was a member of Central Christian Church in Huntington, IN. Survivors include one son, Scott Hedges, Medellin, Colombia; one daughter, Gail Plasterer, Huntington, IN; five grandchildren, Philip L. (Vickie) Plasterer, Bluffton, IN, Stacia McElhaney, Sonia Stevens, both of Huntington, IN, Kaitlin and Jennifer Hedges both of Orlando, FL; and four great-grandchildren, Andrew and Mitchell McElhaney, Jake Stevens and Anthony Guzman.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Day and two brothers, Cletus Johnson and Elbert “Stub” Day.
