Martha Naomi McEwen Bynum, Christian, private and public educator, and the first woman to run for public office in Okaloosa County, Florida, died in Fort Walton Beach on March 30, 2016. She was 84.  Born in Anniston, Alabama, Martha grew up in Tuscaloosa where she attended Tuscaloosa High School and was a proud Black Bear.  She met her husband Clyde Bynum at The University of Alabama, where she earned two Master’s and an Educational Specialist degree.  They moved around the world with the Air Force and had three children.  She is preceded in death by parents, Francis Parrish and Gladys Walker McEwen, by brother, James David McEwen, by husband, Clyde Holston Bynum and son, Brad Walker Bynum. She is survived by son, Darden Bynum and wife, Carol Jo, of Nevada City, CA.  Grandchildren: Bradley Bynum, Brenna Whittey, and husband, Grant, Cameron Bynum and wife, Jenn, and mother of Bradley, Brenna and Cameron, Lois Bynum. Step-grandchildren: Trevor and Miranda Vick.  Great-grandchildren:  Clifford Little and Cain Whittey.  Brad’s wife, Lori Gilmore Bynum of Fort Walton Beach. Grandchildren: Justin Bynum and wife, Bryanna, Jeffrey Bynum and Benjamin Bynum.  Great-grandchildren:  Sam and Darcy Bynum.  Daughter, Anna Bynum Johnson and husband, James, of Fort Walton Beach.  Grandchildren: Jake, Luke and Will Johnson.  Martha had many roles in life.  She taught at Pryor Jr. High and The University of Alabama.
