Marta Jane Drummond, 71, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 17th, 2022. The cause was complications of uterine cancer.

Marta’s compassion and faith permeated all aspects of her life. Her generosity is best remembered by those lucky enough to call her a daughter, sister, relative, friend, wife, mom, mentor, volunteer, or nurse. Marta’s dry sense of humor, quick wit, and call-it-as-she-sees-it honesty added levity to any situation.

Born March 29th,1951, in Nebraska, she was given the name Marta Jane Petring by her adoptive parents, Don and Donna. Marta often spoke fondly of a charmed upbringing in Lincoln, NE.

She attended Saint Luke’s Hospital Nursing School in Denver after graduating from Lincoln High School in 1969. During these formative years she met many of her lifelong friends and her husband.

Marta was a devoted and loving stay-at-home mom who afforded her children every opportunity she could give. She actively participated in her children’s interests, serving as a Cub and Girl Scout leader, helping plan Holy Trinity youth group events, and never missing a game or concert. Marta was always the biggest cheerleader in the room.

In the early 1990s Marta returned to nursing and became a strong advocate for the benefits of home care. She loved being a nurse, caring for the sick, and helping people stay in their homes. A lifelong learner, Marta returned to school, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Metropolitan State College of Denver in May 2001.

After her retirement from nursing, she focused her giving spirit on volunteering for numerous causes.

Marta lived her life with a servant’s heart and touched many lives.

Marta Jane Drummond was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Dale; father-in-law Ted; her parents; Donald & Donna Petring; and mother-in-law Rose.  She is survived by her daughter, Emily Womack; son, Eric and his wife Ashley Isaacson; grandchildren Chloe & Asher; sister Amy McAninch and her husband Michael; mother-in-law Ruth; numerous relatives; countless friends; cats Belle & Liberty; and beloved dog Lucy.

The BAS-ESL scholarship was born in 2018 when Marta’s cousin Jann retired from teaching languages to adults. Small scholarships (totaling more than $16,000) have been awarded to 52 transferring students since 2019
