Marlene Louise Zinnel, age 78, of Humboldt, passed away Friday, November 28, 2014 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt. Marlene was born on January 30, 1936 in Humboldt, Iowa to Fredrick and Hazel “Leona” (Crumbaker) McFarland. She attend Humboldt Schools and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1955.
On August 30, 1958, Marlene was united in marriage to Keel Zinnel at Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt, Iowa. Marlene worked various jobs, but her favorite job was being a homemaker and raising four boys, Keel, Keith, Kenneth and Kevin. Marlene’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Marlene is survived by her husband of 56 years, Keel; four sons: Keel (Anne) Zinnel of Humboldt and their children Curt, Keel “Michael”and Miranda; Keith (Bev) Zinnel of Humboldt and their children Arnold, Andrew and Alexander; Kenneth (Bonita) Zinnel of Fort Dodge and their children Teresa, John and Stacy and Kevin Zinnel of Humboldt and his children Travis and Ashley; 18 great grandchildren; two special daughters: Toni (Bruce) Kriner of Bettendorf and their children Ryan, Lisa and Amy and Robin (Kevin) Olson of Thor and their children Jordan, Taylor and Kaden; her siblings: brother Donald (Shirley) McFarland of Larkspur, Colorado; sister Edith (Sam) Olsen of Bettendorf; sister Gayle Gregersen of Swea City and sister Norma Jean (Gary) Block of Humboldt; sister-in-law Clair McFarland of Italy and brother-in-law Thomas Irvin of Abilene, Texas and many other numerous relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard McFarland and a sister, Kathleen Irvin.
