Dorothy T. Markus, 90, of Damiansville, died Monday, July 30, 2007 at her home. She was born June 10, 1917 in Carlyle, daughter of Norbert and Helene (Pollmann) Henken. She married Robert J. “Perp” Markus October 22, 1947 in Highland and he preceded her in death on February 10, 1998. She is survived by six children, Kenneth Markus of Las Vegas, NV, Paulette Leonard and husband Joseph of Germantown, Barbara Kahrhoff of Damiansville, Ronald Markus and wife Tina of Alvaton, KY, Herbert Markus and wife Julie of Jacksonville Beach, FL, and Elaine Kolb and husband Tim of Woodbridge, VA; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Olivia Mueller of Bartelso.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jaime Markus; one brother Charles Henken and seven sisters, Agnes Warnecke, Amelia Brenfleck, Isabell Schauster, Catherine Huelsmann, Anna Rohling, Marie Markus, and Clara Thole. Mrs. Markus was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Damian Parish and the Aviston American Legion Post 1239 Auxiliary. She loved quilting, playing cards, fishing and being with family and friends at their clubhouse.
