Mark Ramsey, 58 passed away on Saturday morning December 10, 2022.  Mark was born on December 1, 1964 in Indianapolis, Indiana to C. Denver Ramsey and Ruby (Vance) Ramsey.

Mark was a very talented Floor Technician, a trait he shared with his brothers.  Mark was extremely smart, musically inclined (First chair, clarinet in All City Band), funny, artistic, and creative.  He designed and built the best treehouses, go carts and even a tiny house.

Mark was also a great cook and inventor of sandwiches. Mark was the one who got us eating bologna sandwiches with lettuce. (This is delicious, if you have not tried it, you should).  Mark’s cooking was legendary but he would aggravate his mother by using her meal plan ingredients and dirtying every bowl and pan in the kitchen. He would never clean up after himself.

Mark loved to play cards and board games but he was a horrible loser.  If he thought he was going to lose, he would not hesitate to cheat.  A skill he learned from his father, who would never lose a game to his children.   If he still managed to lose, he would get very mad, yell and carry on like he really thought that would change the fact that he lost. It was extremely amusing to his siblings!!

Mark loved to read, especially psychologically scary books.  His favorite writers were Stephen King and Dean Koontz.  When Mark was younger, he preferred watching Science Fiction Theater (WTTV) and Twilight Zone, while everyone else was watching Sammy Terry.  Later in life he was a huge fan of The Family Guy.  He loved music and could find the exact song for any mood.

Mark was a sports fan and loved Colts and Notre Dame football and Pacers and IU Basketball.

Mark was not usually a mean person, but if you did get on his bad side, he could put you down and you would think he was complimenting you ‘til the end.  For example, he once told an ex-girlfriend that she reminded him of a song.  She got really excited and then Mark said “Yeah, you know Tainted Love” “Once I ran to you, now I run from you”

Mark loved his family and friends and tried to spend as much time with them as possible.  All his siblings and children have their own memories of life with Mark. He will live forever in our hearts and our memories.  He will be remembered fondly and missed dearly.

Mark is survived by his children Heather Dempsey, Megan Southworth, Steven Hatten, Courtney Hatten, and Mark Hatten. His siblings Brenda Levi, William Ramsey, E. Elaine (Lonnie Garrett), Jennifer (Jeff) Carney, and Timothy (Deneise) Ramsey.  He is survived by his companion Dawn Hatten, as well as many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Mark was preceded into the afterlife by his parents, his sister-in-law Dereatha Ramsey (William) and his youngest brother Shawn Ramsey Sr.
