Mark A. Melli, 62, died with his family and friends at his side on Saturday, April 30th, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with illness. He spent his last days as he spent most days of his life – holding court, telling jokes and stories, and making his friends and family laugh.
Mark is survived by his wife, Jan (Gelewski) Melli, his four children, Frank, Mark, Jenny, and Eileen, and his grandson Owen Smith. He also leaves behind his sisters Ellen Powley, Regina (Melli) Woods, his brother-in-law Jack Woods, his sister-in-law Kathy Melli, and his “brother” John Fezco, along with many close friends he considered family.
Mark has been reunited with his parents and brothers who preceded him: parents Charles and Mary (Corcoran) Melli, brothers Patrick, Francis, and Charles (“Mickey”). He was also predeceased by a nephew, Andrew Melli, and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Powley.
Mark spent most of his life in Bergen County. He was born in Hasbrouck Heights, attended Bergen Catholic High School, Montclair University, and North Carolina Central Law School. Before retiring he owned a law firm in Paramus, New Jersey. Mark was an accomplished lawyer, avid golfer, and loyal friend. His sense of humor and knack for story telling will be sorely missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
