Mark Marshall Gunter was born in Indiana on March 13, 1959. Mark, my beloved husband, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 after his long courageous 13 year battle with lung cancer. He fought his battle extremely hard keeping most of his pain to himself. His dachshunds gave him much comfort, and they were considered to be a very important part of his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Gunter; three children from a previous marriage; three brothers; and three sisters. His parents preceded him in death.
Mark served his country in the Army and served as a Green Beret with the U.S. Special Forces. Mark had a deep love for his country and was very patriotic. The National Anthem would bring tears to his eyes. After his military career, Mark worked in the communications and computer technology fields. He was dedicated to his work and worked long hours to accomplish the mission. Mark was usually the first one at work and the last to leave.
Once he moved to Albuquerque, he fell in love with New Mexico, its people, its culture, the amazing blue skies, the cuisine, and the mountains. Mark enjoyed flying remote controlled airplanes, riding his Harley motorcycle, fishing and camping. He especially loved the perfect sunsets and open spaces. While enjoying his motorcycle riding, he participated with the Harley Owners Group, toys-for-tots ride.
