Mark G. Shaffer, Jr., a longtime resident of Ellicott City, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the Dove House in Westminster. He was 89. He was born on July 1, 1929 to the late Mark G. Shaffer, Sr. and Margaret (Austin) Shaffer in York, PA. He graduated from University of MD College Park with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Education and was a member of the college band. He served in the U.S. Marines and also played in the Marine Corps band. Mark retired from Westinghouse as a Technical Writer. He was an avid MD Terps fan and carried season tickets to all the football and basketball games for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 48 years Lutil and his second wife of 15 years Sybil. He is survived by his loving children Cindy Dunbar and her husband Don and Peg Goldberg and her husband Bill; cherished grandfather of Dawn and Jake; and great-grandfather of Vince.
