Mark Arthur Merrill, 60, of Mattydale, NY passed away on March 02, 2020, unexpectedly from a moped accident in Cocoa Beach, FL where he was residing. He was a proud retired Local 60 Union Iron Worker in Syracuse, NY for 38 years.  On the side, he also worked at Hinerwadel’s for over 40 years and will be remembered as one of the friendliest and fastest clam shuckers in Syracuse. Being a true outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, arrow heading, Paleolithic knapping and moped collecting. He was a loving father to his two daughters, Justin Grandic and Meghan Lyssand. He was proud of his daughters and would do anything for them.

His true love in life was being a fun-loving grandparent to his five grandchildren, Thatcher (11), Amelia (9), Henrik (7), Elin (5), and Karlsson (1). He loved getting pictures of the grandchildren and would show them off to anyone. He enjoyed teaching them to fish and was always trying to make them laugh.

Mark loved life and was a free spirit, his infectious laugh will be missed by all.

He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Sharlene Merrill, and his wife Karen Merrill. He is survived by his brothers Richard Merrill and Timothy Merrill (Kristin) and his sister Lisa Hazard (Tom); his children Justin Grandic (Elvis) and Meghan Lyssand (Lars); his grandchildren, many cousins and extended family.
