Marjorie Rae Hauck was born on November 22, 1933 in Livermore, IA to Lawrence and Grayce Hauck. She graduated from Livermore High School in 1952 and Iowa State Teachers College in 1954. After college graduation, she taught elementary school three years at Bryant Elementary in Algona and one year in Burt Elementary. Marjorie was a “doer” and spent countless hours gardening, canning, cooking, cleaning and sewing in addition to loving and raising her three children. She was an active member of Burt Presbyterian Church where she participated in Presbyterian Women groups and served as a deacon and trustee. Marjorie had a heart for children that spanned her whole life evident by her devotion to Sunday School and Vacation Bible School educational programs until she was physically not able. She also was a substitute teacher and 4-H leader for several years. Although in recent years, ailments took a toll on her mentally and physically, her loving and gentle spirit persevered. Her kind words and smile were a testament of her faith in God’s unfailing love.

Left to cherish Marjorie’s memory are her three children, son Verdean of Burt, daughter Meladee (Tim) Angus of Boone and son David of Burt; four grandchildren Hollie (Carl) Clark, Peter (Kim) Angus, Tyler Mawdsley and Derek Mawdsley; her little ones, great grandchildren, Gabriel, Titus, Callaghan and Ezariah Clark; a brother Gordon (Beverly) Hauck of Fulton MO; a sister Mardell (Alan) Adams of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane in 2013; her parents; a brother, Wallace Hauck; a sister, Lavelle (Hauck) Eaton; and a brother in infancy. Memorials may be made in Marjorie’s name to the Kossuth Regional Health Center Chapel Project or the Burt Presbyterian Church.
