Marjorie Yording Shanahan, 91, of Jacksonville, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Heritage Health Jacksonville.
She was born Oct. 30, 1921, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Albert and Frances Graubner Yording. She married Bernard L. “Bernie” Shanahan on Aug. 16, 1939, in Jacksonville.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Verbeke of Louisville, KY and Linda (Jerry) McGinnis of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Mary (Don) Grimes, Joanne (Bob) Coleman, Jeff (Gina) Hayes and Brian (Marcy) Hayes; seven great-grandchildren, Blaine and Claire Grimes, Ryan and Bridget Coleman, Drew Hayes, Danielle (Brad) Long and Ian Hayes; and one brother, Bill Yording of Colorado Springs, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Bernard; her sister, Mary Roach; and one brother, Jack Yording (surviving wife, Mary Ellen of Jacksonville).
Marge was a graduate of Routt Catholic High School. She was a member of Church of Our Saviour and Catholic Daughters of America. She was a former employee of Hoffman’s Florist, Norris Clinic, and Newell’s Clothing Store.
