Marjorie C. Brandt Meyers, 99 of Freeport died Sunday, June 6, 2010, at Freeport Rehabilitation and Health Center in Freeport. Born September 26, 1910, in Freeport she was the daughter of Henry and Mildred (Smith) Knauff.
On August 2, 1932, she married John H. Brandt in Galena, and he died in a boating accident on the Rock River on August 21, 1951. Also, her daughter Sharon, age 11, and son James age 8 died in this accident. She married Harold F. Meyers on January 13, 1959, and he died in July 1978. Marjorie worked for Mayor Glen Kunkle for many years and then worked for the Stephenson County Sherriff’s Department until her retirement. She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles and was a member of First Lutheran Church.
