Marjore Ann Rahe Huls, 82 years of age, of Beatrice passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018. She was born on January 31, 1936 in Beatrice to Henry W. and Anna W. (Hackert) Rahe. Marjorie was baptized in her parents’ home on February 23, 1936 and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Harbine on April 10, 1949. There she was an active member, teaching Sunday School, singing in the church choir and a part time organist. Marjorie attended Sparks School, Districe 40 and also Zion Lutheran Parochial School; graduating from Beatrice High School in 1953. She worked in Miami, Florida and San Francisco, California before returning to Beatrice in 1960. As a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Beatrice, Marjorie was the first lady to hold the position of Sunday School Superintendent. She was also the congregational secretary for several years.  Marjorie worked for Eastern and National Airlines, StoreKraft, the ASCS office, the American Red Cross and the Community Development Office before working for the Beatrice Housing Agency for 26 ½ years. In 1996 she was appointed Executive Director, a position she held until she retired in 2004. After retirement she worked part time for H & R Block and was then employed by The Arter Group in Lincoln.

Marjorie was a former board member for Habitat for Humanity of Gage County, former Beatrice Teen board member serving as secretary, formerly active in the Beatrice After 5 Club holding several offices, former member of the Mosaic Children’s Guild (Bargain Box) and has been an active Master Volunteer Ranger for the Homestead National Monument of America since 2004. She was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She thoroughly enjoyed her children and grandchildren, her volunteer duties and golf.

Marjorie is survived by her children, James and wife Sheila of Bern, Kansas, Jana Maschmann and husband Andy of Beatrice, Dr. Julie Lovell and husband Jesse of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Megan Huls of Salt Lake City, Utah, Brenden Huls of Omaha, Jordan, Cole and Morgan Maschmann of Beatrice; 2 brothers, Kenneth Rahe and wife Ruth of Belleville, Kansas, Melvin Rahe of Fairbury; sister-in-law, Delores Rahe of Beatrice; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Henry F. and Lottie (Pohlman) Rahe, Henry and Wilhelmina (Rousch) Hackert; brother, Delbert Rahe; and sister–in-law, Winifred Rahe.
